Hello everyone,
High school soccer season is upon us.
Now is the time to start thinking about raising some money for the program. Each year we need to replace soccer balls, game day equipment, and team apparel. Each year we need to purchase about $1500 in game day socks.
Tax credit money is the best way to handle these expenses. When you give money via tax credit you get all that money back in the form of a credit against your tax liability.
If you look at your taxes from last year, there is a line that says “AZ tax liability”. If that number is greater than $0, then you could have given money to a public school to lower that dollar amount. The maximum contribution you can make is $400 per family or $200 if filing as an individual. Every year my wife and I give $400, so I can attest to how it all works.
Every little bit helps, so even if you can only give $5, please be sure to contribute. You also do not have to give it all at once. You can donate in installments.
To donate, simply visit the school and give the money to the athletic secretary. Be sure to tell her it is tax credit and she will give you a form to fill out. Make sure to note it is for MHS Boys Soccer. Take your receipt and don’t forget to claim it on your AZ taxes. Super easy.
If every player in our program could get at least $100, we would have about $4000 in tax credit money. If we could get $400 per player we would have $16000. And remember, you can ask any family member or friend living in AZ to make this contribution. So all $400 does not have to come from you.
